How we know when it's morning

A case of Zambian shanty compounds

Besides noise from birds, Zambia's shanty compounds in the early mornings are characterised  by unwanted disturbing human noise.

This noise is what brings our compounds to life and marks the beginning of the business day.

Most of this noise pollution is generated by:
  1. Neighbors who play loud music as they prepare for work,or as they enjoy marriage benefits, or  as they do their every day morning chores
  2. Uncontrolled loud music from the bars  and barbarshop
  3. Religious people who opt to say their prayers loudly and play their music instruments loudly in the early mornings
  4. People coming from over night drinking sprees who talk and shout loudly
  5. Trespassers and traders
If you like noise, then Zambia's shanty compounds are for you.
