USA 1936–1940. Inventor Jesse Dixon and his flying car.

Jesse Dixon (1885–1963) of Andalusia, Alabama, invented his own flying car to avoid traffic jams.

To his credit and unlike many other inventors of small helicopters and autogyros he did manage not to kill himself and lived to the reasonably ripe old age of 78.
