WITH so much buzz and hype happening in Lusaka and the Copperbelt or is it “Kopala”, Kabwe town is steadily following suit.
Since the departure of, probably, some of the most fascinating acts to come out of Kabwe such as B-Flow and D2, the town was tagged a “ghost town” in entertainment circles.
But with the coming of new artistes such as Rox Man, the slowly developing town may just awaken from its slumber and join the Lsk swag and Kopala swag.
With most of his songs receiving massive airplay on such radio stations as Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation (ZNBC)’s Radio 4 and Radio Phoenix’s Rhythm Count Down show, Rox Man seeks to rock the town even more.
And he is not alone because just recently the artiste, who is famed for his exciting Missed Call song, has been seen to collaborate with the LSK swag, as most Lusaka musicians have come to be known.
Remember Bob Muli? Well, the charismatic singer who has been among the most featured on local jams is part of Rox Man’s duet on the song Missed Call.
And as if that is not enough, Rox Man has gone an extra mile in making his music more appealing to his new legion of fans by recording with Kabwe–based singers of the moment.
He collaborates with the fancied L-Boy on the social commentary song titled Balekana and the love-sauced Napeza, while Katai guests on the song Tekwesha.
With emphasis on composing songs which speak about real issues, Rox Man has also included the songs Wabwela, Nakulaya, Nikukonda and Pachiyambi.
Most of these songs may also be described as gender-sensitive as they reveal the day-to-day realities about true love and stable marriages.
“Artistes must strive to sing about real issues that affect the most ordinary man and woman, including youths, and not the vulgar language we are being treated to in some songs,” he observed.
With his songs, which were recorded at Classic Studios and Big Things Records, making some “noise quietly” around the pubs and clubs of Kabwe, Rox Man is on song.
The video of Balekana has also been unleashed and according to the artiste, the response has been overwhelming.
