People in most shanty compounds of Zambia are able to build decent family houses yet fail to build decent pit toilets.

Using substandard pit toilets in Zambia's shanty compounds is one of a 1000 ways to die.During rain season most of the pit toilets collapse and in some cases deaths are recorded.

This has been a common problem shanty people have lived with for decades in Zambia.

Health sensitaization messages about sanitation and hygiene are shared on both radio and TV.Community health meetings are organized yet alot of people still don't follow health guidelines.
