What is something most people don't know about Africa?

The two things that I find people most commonly overlook about Africa are:

  • How big it is. It is massive. Madagascar alone (the island off the East Coast) would stretch from London to Rome if it was placed in Europe. And it is tiny compared to the mainland.
  • That its population is diverse. People think “African” means “black person”. But significant swathes of Africa have predominantly Arab populations, and there are also a significant number of people from the Indian subcontinent who have lived there for many generations.
